Dr. von Schulz's philosophy is exhibited in his writings and his work related to research at Nanjing University and University of Illinois. In this research, Dr. von Schulz worked with his Ph.D. advisor Professor Li under a Chinese grant provided for "Case Based Research on Reforming of the Chinese Anti-Unfair Competition Law".

In furthering Dr. von Schulz's Ph.D. research at Nanjing University, Dr. von Schulz found a direct intersection between educational psychology and the role of both the formation and the understanding of legal doctrine. This broad relationship is based on philosophy and provides for a conceptual methodology towards both understanding legal problems and interpreting law in a manner that is cognizant to the realities of social and individual experiences.
